BIOMECHANICAL ASSESSMENT & CORRECTION
Our muscle balance is influenced by gravity and a variety of internal and external forces that influence line of pull of the muscles.
Abnormal forces can result in abnormal postures or loading. Also, abnormal postures that are sustained, result in muscle imbalances. e.g. sitting slumped; or standing with one's weight on one leg, when carrying a heavy bag or a child.
Muscle imbalances need to be corrected to reduce pain and improve function and performance.
At Physioworx, we have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, kinematics & how to correct abnormal loading, postural dysfunction and dynamic movement. Through thorough and targeted assessment we can find the source of the pain, which is often a distance from the site of pain.
All individuals should have the benefit of functioning optimally & painfree, regardless of if they are athletic or not.....
Biomechanics is the study of the mechanics of a living body, especially of the forces exerted by muscles and gravity on the skeletal structure.
Kinematics is the branch of biomechanics that studies movement. Here we progress our understanding of posture to looking at gait (walking) as well as functional movements that are relevant to the individual's activities of daily living, including their sporting capability.
